Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

I am delighted to welcome you to The Emmbrook School. As a father of two (both at secondary school), I am acutely aware that choosing the right school is such a significant decision. This page will offer you a digital introduction to The Emmbrook.

Every September, I select a quote that sums up our ambition for the year ahead; this year

“The past is written, but the future is left for us to write, and we have powerful tools, openness, optimism, and the spirit of curiosity.”  (Jean-Luc Picard)

It’s important to me that we all work hard to keep this school fun, caring and engaging so that every student will achieve academic and personal excellence.

I hope to meet you in one form or another in the coming months, via our tours, during the open evenings or at one of my online morning meetings for parents. Information regarding all these events will be released soon. In the meantime, if I can assist you personally, then please do contact me (nmcsweeney@emmbrook.wokingham.sch.uk).

The schools in Wokingham are excellent, that should make this process easier, but somehow it makes it harder! Good luck with choosing the school that is right for you.

Best wishes,

Nick McSweeney

Results 2024

GSCE Results Day 2024

We are incredibly proud of the fantastic results achieved by our Year 11 students today. Their hard work and dedication have shone through as GCSE results are up across the board, with students improving, on average, by half a GCSE grade in every subject compared to last year.

Core subject performance rose dramatically with English, Maths, and Science all seeing large increases in attainment. Compared to the 2023 results, students achieving passes in English and Maths rose 15% for the ‘standard’ pass (4+) and nearly 10% for the ‘strong’ pass (5+), with similar increases in the Science pass rates. Students performed well across the breadth of the curriculum, with particularly high attainment in Business, Computer Science, Geography, Media, Music, Religious Studies and Spanish.

Nick McSweeney, Headteacher, commented “I am thrilled that this wonderful cohort of students has performed so well. It is particularly pleasing to see the hard work of students and staff in core subjects pay off, as these qualifications are so vital for our students’ life chances. Over the past five years we have invested heavily to expand the range of qualifications we offer our students and so the breadth of achievement is also very pleasing. These impressive results, alongside the strong A-levels last week, show that we continue to improve as a school by setting new performance highs year on year.”

A-Level Results Day 2024 (15/08/24)

We are thrilled to celebrate with our students as they receive truly remarkable results today. Grades have risen across the board, with particular increases at the top end. The proportion of A* and A grades has almost tripled from the year before. There was a similarly significant rise in the proportion of B grades, more than doubling in a year. All other passes also increased, and the overall pass rate reached 100%
