Life After Sixth Form
Around 65% of our Year 13 students go on to continue their studies at University and we put a great deal of effort into helping students make the best choices about what courses to take and where to study. We spend a lot of time with individuals to help them with their UCAS Application Forms and have a great deal of expertise with a range of University entrance, including Oxbridge. In addition students have the opportunity to listen to visiting speakers, attend conferences and attend a Higher Education evening at Emmbrook.
Students who wish to consider taking a Gap Year are catered for through our Careers Programme. We also have excellent contacts with a variety of Gap Year organisations. We also facilitate those students seeking employment. This is achieved through our excellent relationship with the local Careers Office. We also help with writing CV’s and interview techniques.
In Emmbrook Sixth Form, low aspiration is openly challenged; links with top local and top London Universities ensure that students have every opportunity to take part in taster courses and tours.
As a STEM school, students are encouraged to participate in local and national challenges. Recently, one of our teams became national finalists in an Olympics competition to design a rower’s glove. Strong industry links have resulted in, for example, a visit to BP in Pangbourne to discover precisely the work of a chemical engineer.
We were pleased that OFSTED recognised our high level of Guidance and Support.
