Key Stage 3
In years 7, 8 and 9 we follow the mastery curriculum provided through Discovering Mathematics. This is based on the Singaporean maths series which has been proven to produce confident mathematicians who demonstrate secure knowledge across the
requirements of the mathematics curriculum. The series of documents attached below give full details on what your child will study in each term; every class will either be following the A, B or C series. Students and parents can access the text book through Kerboodle and we also use Mathswatch to consolidate on key knowledge once a fortnight in school. Mathswatch provides accessible videos for every topic and is an excellent resource if a student is struggling with a topic.
There will be regular assessments in maths and this video explains how best to revise for these.

Key Stage 4
Examination Board: AQA
Mathematics at GCSE is an important qualification both for employment and further academic studies. Students will continue to study the subject across six key areas
The most able students will be challenged through the AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics. This is further supported on the mathematics department You Tube Channel:
Being numerate in a modern world allows you to organise your finances and plan practical projects with accuracy. Skills in algebra enhance your ability to solve a wide variety of problems. Data handling skills can be applied to research in several curriculum areas.
Assessment: The course at both foundation and higher levels will be assessed by three final exams - one non calculator paper and two calculator papers.
Progression: If taken at the higher level, Mathematics GCSE is a good introduction to Maths A level and will also support many other A level courses. A minimum of grade 4 with some preferring a grade 5 at GCSE is a pre-requisite of all University courses and many other further education courses. If a student does not achieve a grade 4 in year 11 it is a requirement that GCSE maths is taken in year 12 or at College.

- Mathswatch is an excellent resource with a video provided for each topic.
- OnMaths - provides a series of predicted papers for AQA GCSE. You can find an introductory video here which was recorded during lockdown but has some tips and instructions which are applicable for all.
- Corbett Maths provide a series of videos with questions and answers, these are not exam board specific but are useful for all topics.
